Amiodarone Hydrochloride 200 mg tablet (class III antiarrhythmic agent)

This medication is used to treat certain types of serious (possibly fatal) irregular heartbeat (such as persistent ventricular fibrillation/tachycardia). It is used to restore normal heart rhythm and maintain a regular, steady heartbeat.

Amiodarone has a very long half-life (40–55 days) — effects and side effects persist long after stopping. Interacts with many medicines — especially warfarin (greatly raises INR), digoxin, simvastatin, and other antiarrhythmics. Avoid prolonged direct sun exposure — wear high-SPF sunscreen and protective clothing. Monitor thyroid, liver, lung, and eye function periodically. Only for use under specialist cardiology supervision.
