Used for high cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia) and to significantly reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in very high-risk patients — such as those with established coronary artery disease, recent acute coronary syndrome, or familial hypercholesterolaemia. At 80 mg, this is the highest-intensity atorvastatin dose, used when aggressive LDL reduction is required.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in pregnancy or breastfeeding (statins harm the baby). Not for use in active liver disease. Avoid grapefruit juice — it increases atorvastatin levels significantly. Avoid excessive alcohol. Many drug interactions exist — especially with fibrates, macrolide antibiotics, antifungals, and cyclosporin. Report any unexplained muscle pain promptly. Liver and CK (muscle enzyme) monitoring as advised.
