Used as add-on therapy for severe, resistant high blood pressure (hypertension) that has not responded adequately to other blood pressure medicines. Minoxidil directly relaxes blood vessel muscles, causing strong blood pressure reduction.Contraindications & Warnings
Should only be used for resistant hypertension under specialist supervision. Almost always prescribed with a beta-blocker and loop diuretic to prevent reflex tachycardia and fluid accumulation. Do not use in phaeochromocytoma. Monitor heart rate, weight, and for signs of fluid build-up regularly.
