Used to prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of heart attacks in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) who are undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI โ coronary stenting). Prasugrel is a more potent and faster-acting antiplatelet agent than clopidogrel.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in patients with a history of stroke or TIA (transient ischaemic attack) โ very high risk of brain bleed. Not for use in active bleeding or severe liver disease. Avoid in patients aged 75 years and above (increased bleeding risk, 5 mg may be considered by specialist). Weigh less than 60 kg โ use 5 mg dose. Tell all doctors and dentists before any procedure.
