Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), angina, certain heart rhythm abnormalities (tachyarrhythmias), essential tremor, anxiety symptoms (palpitations, trembling), and to prevent migraines. Also used to manage symptoms of hyperthyroidism and phaeochromocytoma.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in asthma or significant COPD (propranolol is non-selective — blocks beta-2 receptors in the lungs), cardiogenic shock, severe heart block, or very slow heart rate. Never stop abruptly — risk of rebound angina and heart attack. Use with caution in diabetes. Significant interactions with calcium channel blockers, especially verapamil.
