Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure. Also used after myocardial infarction (heart attack) to improve survival and prevent hospitalisation. Valsartan blocks angiotensin II receptors, relaxing blood vessels and reducing the heart's workload without causing dry cough.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in pregnancy or breastfeeding (can seriously harm the baby — foetal kidney damage, reduced skull ossification). Not with aliskiren in diabetes or kidney disease. Monitor potassium and kidney function. Tell your doctor about potassium supplements, NSAIDs, and lithium.
