Ambrisentan 5 mg tablet (endothelin receptor antagonist — ERA)Uses & Indications
Used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) — a serious condition where blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs is dangerously high. Ambrisentan blocks endothelin receptors, relaxing the blood vessels in the lungs and reducing the workload on the right side of the heart. It improves exercise ability and slows disease progression.Contraindications & Warnings
Not for use in pregnancy — causes severe birth defects. Women of childbearing potential must use two reliable methods of contraception and have a negative pregnancy test before starting. Do not use in severe liver disease. Requires enrolment in a risk management programme (REMS) in many countries. Prescribed and monitored by a pulmonary hypertension specialist only.
