Apixaban 5 mg tablet (direct oral anticoagulant — factor Xa inhibitor)Uses & Indications
Used to prevent stroke and blood clots in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), and to treat and prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the legs and lungs). Also used to prevent blood clots after hip or knee replacement surgery.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use if you have active significant bleeding, a prosthetic heart valve, or severe liver disease. Use with extreme caution with other blood thinners, NSAIDs, or antiplatelet medicines. Tell all your doctors and dentists you are on this medicine before any procedure or surgery. No routine blood monitoring needed, but kidney function should be checked periodically.
