Aspirin (Acetylsalicylic Acid) 75 mg tablet (antiplatelet agent — low dose)

Used for long-term prevention of heart attacks and strokes in patients with established cardiovascular disease (secondary prevention), and in high-risk patients after assessment of individual risk and benefit. At 75 mg, this is the standard antiplatelet dose (not the anti-inflammatory dose). Aspirin irreversibly inhibits platelet function, preventing dangerous arterial blood clots from forming.

Do not use in active peptic ulcer or stomach bleeding, known aspirin or NSAID allergy, haemophilia or other bleeding disorders. Use with caution alongside anticoagulants (warfarin, rivaroxaban, apixaban), other antiplatelet agents, or NSAIDs — significantly increases bleeding risk. A proton pump inhibitor (e.g. pantoprazole) is often prescribed alongside to protect the stomach. Not recommended in pregnancy — especially in the third trimester.
