Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), particularly as a component of combination antihypertensive therapy. At this low dose, chlorthalidone is often combined with a beta-blocker (such as atenolol or bisoprolol). Chlorthalidone removes excess salt and water from the body by acting on the kidneys, lowering blood pressure.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in severe kidney disease, inability to urinate (anuria), uncontrolled gout, or allergy to sulphonamide medicines (cross-sensitivity). Monitor potassium, sodium, and blood glucose regularly. Lithium interaction — avoid or monitor closely. Avoid in pregnancy.
