Enalapril is a prodrug converted in the body to enalaprilat, which blocks ACE and prevents the formation of angiotensin II, relaxing blood vessels and reducing the heart's workload.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in pregnancy or breastfeeding (can seriously harm the baby). Not for use with a history of angioedema from any ACE inhibitor, bilateral renal artery stenosis, or with aliskiren in diabetes. Monitor kidney function, blood pressure, and potassium regularly. Tell your doctor about NSAIDs, potassium supplements, and lithium.
