Acenocoumarol (Nicoumalone) 1 mg tablet (vitamin K antagonist anticoagulant)Uses & Indications
Used to prevent and treat blood clots in conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, atrial fibrillation, and after insertion of mechanical heart valves. Acenocoumarol prevents blood from clotting by blocking vitamin K-dependent clotting factors.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in active bleeding, peptic ulcer, severe liver or kidney disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or pregnancy (major risk to the baby). Vitamin K in food (green leafy vegetables) and many medicines interact significantly with acenocoumarol — maintain a consistent diet and report any new medicine to your doctor immediately. Alcohol increases bleeding risk.
