Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and to improve survival after a heart attack. Also used to protect the kidneys in patients with diabetes. Lisinopril prevents the formation of angiotensin II, relaxing blood vessels and reducing the heart's workload.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in pregnancy or breastfeeding (can seriously harm the baby). Not with history of angioedema from any ACE inhibitor, bilateral renal artery stenosis, or with aliskiren in diabetes. Monitor kidney function, blood pressure, and potassium. Tell your doctor about potassium supplements, NSAIDs, and lithium.
