Telmisartan 20 mg tablet (angiotensin II receptor blocker — ARB)Uses & Indications
Used to treat mild to moderate high blood pressure (hypertension), particularly in patients who cannot tolerate ACE inhibitors (e.g. those who develop a persistent cough). Also used to reduce cardiovascular risk in patients with established cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes with target organ damage. The 20 mg dose is the lowest available, used for initiation or in patients requiring a low starting dose.Contraindications & Warnings
Do not use in pregnancy or breastfeeding (can seriously harm the baby). Not for use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or kidney disease. Avoid potassium supplements without monitoring. Tell your doctor about all medicines, especially NSAIDs, lithium, and other antihypertensives.
